In 1979, the members of Ramah Missionary Baptist Church decided to build a larger sanctuary to accommodate the growing membership. Deacon Warnell Maxey, along with Mother Elouise Washington, chaired the Building Fund Committee. The first deposit totaling $600 was made by them. Various programs were held as they continued raising funds.
In May 1998, Ramah begin worshipping in the new sanctuary. In 2002, Dea. Maxey envisioned an educational annex. On November 30, 2003, the Warnell B. Maxey Education Annex, a 6,000 square foot addition, was dedicated in his honor.
